SUMMARY:George Masa Foundation 2026 Youth Conservation Photography Prize Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:George Masa Foundation 2026 Youth Conservation Photography Prize Exhibition\nMay 1 – June 30\, 2026\nEducation Center – Arbor Eatery\nPresented by the George Masa Foundation\, this exhibition features the 30 winners of the 2026 Youth Conservation Photography Prize\, selected from two age groups\, 11 to 14 and 15 to 18. The program invites young people from across the country to explore and express their connection to the natural world through photography. Inspired by the legacy of George Masa\, whose images helped protect the Southern Appalachians\, these photographs reflect careful observation\, creative vision\, and a growing awareness of the landscapes\, waters\, and wildlife that shape our lives. \nWe are grateful to the North Carolina Arboretum for graciously hosting and displaying this work\, and to our judges\, Grace Clark and Travis Bordley\, for their thoughtful review and support of these young photographers. Our mission is to inspire young people to be like George Masa; paying attention\, telling meaningful stories\, and creatively facing the environmental challenges of their generation. \nLearn more at: https://georgemasafoundation.org

SUMMARY:Trolls: A Field Study
DESCRIPTION:Presented by:\nSomething extraordinary is coming to Asheville this winter! The North Carolina Arboretum and Explore Asheville are elated to announce the arrival of Trolls: A Field Study. Visiting on their first North American excursion\, these twelve interactive troll sculptures will explore the Arboretum\, embarking on a curious journey to learn about humankind. \nProduced by Imagine in collaboration with Danish artist Thomas Dambo\, these friendly and fanciful sculptures evoke a sense of wonder and intrigue as they study our small\, intricate and inventive ways of life in Western North Carolina. Standing seven to nine feet tall and lovingly described by the artist as “Baby Trolls”\, the creatures are crafted from materials like fallen branches\, wooden pallets and twigs. \nThrough their observations\, the trolls reveal a fresh perspective on what makes us human\, sparking curiosity and laughter in visitors of all ages. \nParking to Trolls: A Field Study is included in the standard Arboretum parking fee.
