Monarch Butterfly Day

Join us at The North Carolina Arboretum on Sept 19th for a day dedicated to the Monarch Butterfly!

Each fall, the last monarch butterflies of the year pass through Western North Carolina on their incredible migration to Mexico. Join us on Saturday, September 19, for a day dedicated to celebrating monarchs, pollinators, and the communities that connect us to the outdoors.

From 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., enjoy hands-on activities with community partners and vendors, crafts and activities in the Playing Woods, a StoryWalk, guided pollinator walks, Lotería, dance performances, and more.

This year’s Monarch Day is extra special as Latinos Aventureros joins us to celebrate not only the monarchs, but also their 5th year of connecting communities across North Carolina to the outdoors through bilingual adventures, health and wellness, environmental conservation, and youth programs.

Monarch Day activities are free to attend.
The Arboretum’s standard parking fee applies to nonmembers. North Carolina Arboretum members park free as usual.

12:30 pm: Lotería Salud y Aventura at the Education Center Veranda Lawn
1:30 pm: Dance Performance: Mä Hñäkihu
2:15 pm: Guided Pollinator Walk
