Spring Starts in the Winter for Roses

Planning a great rose garden doesn’t begin in spring, the work begins with thoughtful planning through the quiet days of winter. Every hour spent preparing now is rewarded with healthier plants and more time to enjoy your garden in the spring. During this class learn best practices, tips and tricks, and other work that goes into planning and maintaining a great rose garden. This class is part of a series of offerings in collaboration with the Asheville Blue Ridge Rose Society as part of their Rose Grower’s School.

John Smith is a Past President of Asheville- Blue Ridge Rose Society and is a Certified Consulting Rosarian for the American Rose Society since 2010. He has been growing roses since 1979 in New Jersey, California and now in North Carolina. For the past 8 years, John has been the manager of the Asheville Blue Ridge Rose Society’s test garden and for 16 years has been a Rosarian Assistant for the Biltmore Rose Garden.
